Finally it came to calling. Elijah had to back away and take a seat on the bed. And when he had taken a seat, he ended up laying back.

"Come here," he said, patting the bed beside him.

When Asher would sit down, Elijah reached up to drag him down beside him. He didn't rest yet, though, but patted down Asher's back and found his own gun tucked inside Asher's pants. He turned to his side, pulled the gun and turned off the safety while wrapping both of his arms around Asher, one beneath his neck, the other - gun hand - around his back, the glock resting against the small of Asher's back.

He felt he could control the situation now. If someone came through that door, he had a good position, he could push Asher down and cover him with his own body while shooting down the aggressors.

Yes, he was being ridiculously protective over his charge.

"I want to know everything about that unfinished business and every detail still unclear about this whole debacle," he said firmly. "But I think we both need some rest first."
